Bespoken is looking for a strategic communications professional who is a trusted adviser to business leaders: someone who understands commercial realities as well as the craft of messaging, and who knows the most effective communications aren’t always the loudest.

The role
As a Media & Communications Specialist at Bespoken, you’ll manage client accounts and play a senior role delivering integrated communications programs across multiple sectors. Your work will span strategy, storytelling, stakeholder engagement and media, with the balance shifting depending on the brief.
You’ll work with everyone from innovative scale‑ups to established industry leaders, helping them clarify their messages, strengthen their reputation and connect with the right audiences.

This is a hybrid role based in our Brisbane CBD office (3 days in the office, 2 days WFH).
You’ll be working alongside experienced communications, marketing and media professionals in a team that values curiosity, collaboration and creative thinking. (Alliteration unintended, but as a great candidate you appreciated it nonetheless!)
What you’ll be doing
Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing and managing communications and media plans aligned to client goals
- Shaping narratives and messages that support awareness, engagement and reputation
- Writing high‑quality content across a wide range of formats, including communications plans, media stories, award submissions, reports and campaign materials
- Identifying and securing opportunities to elevate client brands with the right audiences
- Providing considered advice on emerging issues, risks and opportunities
- Managing projects, retainers, timelines and reporting with confidence and care
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, stakeholders and media contacts
- Contributing to agency growth through collaboration, ideas and business development support.
About you
You’re a strategic communicator first, ideally with media experience. You will bring:
- A degree in communications, public relations, journalism or a related discipline
- Significant experience in strategic communications and PR
- Strong writing skills, with experience producing high‑quality content for diverse audiences and channels
- Experience developing and delivering communications strategies and plans
- Confidence working directly with clients and senior stakeholders
- A solid understanding of media and digital platforms, and how to engage with them effectively
- Strong project management, interpersonal and presentation skills
- A calm, considered approach to complex or sensitive issues
- The ability to manage confidential information with professionalism and care.
